Tens of thousands, some from as far away as Georgia, descend on Washington, DC for pro-Palestinian rally
Thousands of people from all over the United States marched in Washington, D.C., on November 27th, 2023 to show their solidarity with the people of Gaza and Palestine. The march was organized by the Palestinian-American community, and it drew a crowd estimated between 10,000 and 15,000 people.
The protesters peacefully waved flags and signs that said "Free Palestine" and "End the Occupation". They chanted slogans such as "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free," and "Israel: Leave Gaza now!" Many of the protesters expressed frustration with the international community for not doing enough to stop the Israeli government's aggression against the Palestinian people.
The march wasn't just about expressing support for Palestinians; it was also a protest and call for action. The crowd called out for an end to the occupation of Palestinian territory, an end to the blockade of the Gaza Strip, an end to the demolitions of Palestinian homes, and an end to the illegal settlements being built in the West Bank. The protesters made it clear that they wanted the US government to play a larger role in bringing an end to Israel's violations of human rights.
As the march came to a close, many of the protesters said that they had been energized and would continue to fight for the liberation of Palestinians. They promised to use their voices to keep the Palestinian cause alive until justice and freedom are achieved.
