Thousands led by Cuba's president march in Havana in solidarity with Palestinine
Thousands of Cubans recently marched in Havana in solidarity with the Palestinian people. Led by Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel, the march was organized to show support for the Palestinian cause and condemnation of any violence against them.
The event was held on the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, which is celebrated annually by the United Nations. The march began at the iconic Plaza de la Revolución and ended at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building.
At the rally, Díaz-Canel declared that Cuba is committed to supporting the Palestinian people, including their right to self-determination, independence, and freedom from Israeli occupation. He also condemned what he called "the aggression of Israel" against the Palestinians, as well as the restrictions imposed by the United States on the nation.
In addition, thousands of marchers chanted slogans in favor of Palestine and carried banners and placards denouncing the US, while others waved Palestinian flags. Embassies and consulates across Cuba also lit up in the colors of the Palestinian flag to honor the day.
The march was part of a larger effort to support Palestine, as Cuba has traditionally had close ties with the region. In the past, Cuban leaders have spoken out against the Israeli occupation and Cuba has provided medical aid and scholarships to Palestinian students.
The march in Havana is seen as a sign of solidarity between Cuba and Palestine and sends a powerful message to the international community that Cuban citizens stand in support of the Palestinian struggle for equality and justice.
