TikTok says it's removed millions of fake accounts since start of Israel-Hamas war
TikTok has removed millions of fake accounts since the start of the conflict between Israel and Hamas. The social media platform said that it had taken down more than 2 million accounts in the first 24 hours following the start of the war, which began on May 10th.
The company said that it was able to detect and remove these accounts using its artificial intelligence-powered systems. It noted that it was constantly monitoring the platform for any suspicious activity and proactively took efforts to remove accounts that were impersonating people or organizations.
TikTok also outlined its policy of not allowing hate speech or violence on the platform. It stated that it had been proactive in removing such content, as well as accounts pretending to be associated with a particular group or organization in order to spread false information or opinion.
Furthermore, TikTok also highlighted that it had blocked content related to the conflict or which could lead to further tension or misunderstandings. This includes pictures, videos, comments, hashtags and links related to the situation.
Overall, TikTok's proactive approach to combatting misinformation is commendable, especially given the current volatile situation in the region. By taking steps to protect its users from malicious content and potentially dangerous accounts, it is helping to ensure that its platform remains a safe place for its users to connect with each other.
